theBalm Jovi Palette

I recently got one palette that I was and am so excited about. I had heard all good things about it, from the packaging to the names of the products to the actual product itself.

I am telling you that this did not disappoint. Its one of those things that are hyped up about but when you finally get it, the item actually does live up to the hype. That doesn't happen very often in my experience, but in this case I will go so far as to say that it went further than my expectations.

So let's just get into it.

The front

As with all theBalm palettes, an identical cardboard slip cover is provided. Notice the line on the palette inside, that is the flap cover, one opens upward, the other opens downward.

The back shows the product names and ingredients.

The Price: About 150 Dhs but worth it.

The Packaging: Awesomeness! The slip cover adds more protection. The inside cardboard is tough and sturdy. A flap cover covers the eyeshadows, a blush and highlighter. When you open that there is a cute heart shaped mirror. A little flap cover in the bottom of the palette flips open downwards to reveal 2 lip colors. Very travel friendly.

The flap opens upward.

The lower flap also has some ideas about what combos to do.

The names have some reference to the pop star Bon Jovi and his music, but I can't be more explicit about this since I'm not aware of these inferences.

The product: Each eyeshadow is highly pigmented, very smooth and buttery and I did not notice any fallout either. There are 12 eyeshadows with multiple finishes.

Corresponding swatches.

The first column:

Metal-ica is whitish silver with a frost finish, good for highlighting inner corners or brow bone.
Iron Maid-in is a typical pale gold, also frost finish for an all over eyelid color and inner corners.
Lead Zeppelin is one my favorites, its an olive green with prominent gold glitter running through, very festive.
Alice Cooper is a maroon. burgundy shade, satin finish, lovely for warming the crease.

The second column:

Adagio is a pale peachy shade, matte, very good for all over the eyelid, or as a highlight shade.
Allegro is a medium warm brown, ideal for contouring the crease or as a blending color.
Moderato is very difficult to explain. Its a dark grayish deep purple and matte. Beautiful for outer v and doing smoky eyes.
Presto is a taupy mushroom color. Lovely for blending, even all over the eyelid for a subtle smoky eye.

The third column:

Blink 1982 is a dirty pink with satin fish. Its so beautiful for an eyelid color.
The Stroke is a deep blue and looks almost matte. Its good as an accentuating color for the lids.
Rem is a gorgeous lilac color, another favorite and with satin finish.
Third Eye Blinded is a frost pale pink. But it not as frosty as the first two shades. I love it for a subtle brow highlight or entire eyelid.

The rest of the products:

There is a beautiful gold highlighter called Disco Disco and it is gives a very intense sheen so you really need a very light hand. Use with caution.

And the blush is a bright pinky coral color, it will suit all skin types, very blendable and so pigmented called Pop Pop.

The lip colors are sheer to opaque depending on how much you use. One is a natural muted neutral pink, and the other is bright pink with red undertones. These can also be used as cream blushes.

The Lipcolors: Milly and Vanilly

From the left: Disco Disco, Pop Pop, Milly and Vanilly

I just love how this palette gives you a wide range of not only colors, but also finishes. The mattes provided are so lovely as are the more brighter and daring shades. The highlighter, blush and lip colors just seal the deal. The only thing missing is a bronzer, but we'll just let that one slide. Very nice palette indeed.
